There are only a few steps left in the process of locking in the establishment of a reticulated wastewater system for Forrest.

This has been a long road which has elicited a lot of discussion on a variety of subjects not least being fears of uncontrolled development that might follow.

Forrest & District Community representatives have been speaking with and advocating for a sustainable, permanent Forrest population with State and Local Government agencies for some time.

Forrest cannot sustain a viable school without a population to support it and the town will struggle to attract new residents without a viable school. The same applies to many valued organisations within the town.

Land availability and housing affordability are key to attracting a permanent, sustainable Forrest population, who live in Forrest. Current housing scarcity and population impacts our essential community assets, most importantly enrolments and long-term viability of the Forrest Primary School, and our many clubs, associations, and community assets.

Addressing this matter aligns with the goals outlined in the Forrest 2030 Plan.

The Forrest and District Community Group (FDCG) has represented Forrest in Strategic Planning discussions and are advocating for urgent investment into a), a Neighbourhood Character study and b), a Structure Plan review for Forrest with the aim of establishing future planning that the Forrest community supports and has ownership of.

The FDCG is committed to supporting sensitive growth which aligns with the values of the Forrest community.

This community meeting is a opportunity to discuss:

  1. Land availability and affordability
  2. The feasibility of our primary school
  3. Neighbourhood Character

Be involved, have your say, inform and be informed.
