The Award winning Crucible Cidery is now based in Forrest. Crucible Cider is a handmade, traditional dry cider made from our own 28 varieties of organically-grown cider apples. We also make Perry, Apple Brandy and Pommeau, a luscious Normandy style apple liqueur.

Our ciders are based on an approach of minimum intervention using all natural ingredients. This resulted in the 2020 Traditional Dry Cider winning the Gold Medal for traditional Cider at the National Cider Awards in 2021, as well as National Best In Class.

Crucible is named in honour of our ancestor, John Juleff, who invented the Juleff Crucible in 1750. Their quality was “so excellent…….as to stand the fire with uncommon success”, beating all foreign competition. It was then used for more than 200 years above the mines of Cornwall. Examples can be seen in Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.

Accolades for the cider have come from a number of writers and experts –

“The Crucible Cider is the real deal!” – esteemed wine/cider writer Max Allen.

“a benchmark example of what cider really should be” – The Naked Hungry Traveller

2021 National Cider Awards – Winner of Gold Medal and Best in Class for Traditional Dry Cider and Winner of Silver Medal for Traditional Dry Perry.
