The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) will shortly be relocating its Otway presence from Forrest to Barwon Downs. The Department is keen to ensure that the local community plays a significant part in decision-making on what the properties, now ‘surplus to requirements’, might
be used for.
Consultation so far
To date, the conversation with the Forrest community has been through personal contact with a number of Department staff, together with an Open House event held on January 27th an 28th
Who we heard from
Through the Open House event we heard from over one hundred people who shared a range of ideas with us about potential uses of the sites.
We received 103 ideas over the two days including some very detailed submissions.
Where to from here?
The next step for DELWP is to provide structured workshops for Forrest residents to discuss and consider the potential of the many suggestions.
The list of ideas range in complexity and compatibility and the first workshop will give participants a stepped process to explore the opportunities, implications and functions generally.
This will help inform a second workshop were more detailed conversations will inform the next steps
